New Saginaw County prosecutor talks with TV5

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

John McColgan Jr. is starting his new role as Saginaw County prosecutor. He sat down with TV5 to talk about his goals for this new position.

McColgan said his no. 1 goal is tackling violent crime in the City of Saginaw. He is tired of seeing the city appear on the FBI's infamous 'Most Violent' list.

"If it doesn't get here, if somebody doesn't get killed it would satisfy me as much as convicting somebody who did kill someone," said McColgan.

The prosecutor is already meeting with local law enforcement and community leaders to talk about ways to reduce crime.
