PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The FBI is leaning on the public for help in solving two Valley bank robberies that occurred on the same day.

A $25,000 reward is offered for the arrest and conviction of the person who attempted to rob a Bank of America at 49th Street and Ray Road in Phoenix, according to Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge James Turgal, Jr.

A surveillance photograph taken at about 7:30 p.m. from a Target captured a person of interest in connection with the attempted robbery.

Turgal said the FBI is not releasing details on why investigators believe the individual is a person of interest due to the ongoing investigation.

During the incident, a bank employee had a device put on her neck that looked like a bomb but turned out not to be an explosive. [Related: Bomb squad responds to Phoenix bank hostage call}

The FBI is also seeking the public's assistance in identifying an unknown man who allegedly robbed the U.S. Bank at 1159 W. Chandler Blvd. on the same day.

The suspect presented a demand note and left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, Turgal said.

The robbery occurred at about 4:30 p.m. within five miles of the attempted robbery at the Bank of America.

Anyone with information about either or both incidents are asked to contact the FBI at 623- 466-1366.

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is comprised of the Phoenix Police Department, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and the Mesa Police Department. The BRTF is coordinating its investigation with the Chandler Police Department regarding the robbery of the U.S. Bank.
