Gladewater police said that at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday they were called to a residence at 611 Gay Avenue in reference to a missing person.

It was reported by the home's resident that Heather Marie Holcomb, age 39, had been staying with the resident for the last several days. The victim had walked away from the home sometime in the night and was located by the resident and brought back inside.

Later in the morning the resident discovered the victim, who she said suffers from various mental health problems, missing and called police.

A missing person investigation was started and an immediate search of the area was made. After daylight additional personnel were formed into a search party and a new search was made. The missing person was found deceased in the 700 block of Gay Ave. located well off the road and into a heavily wooded area.

Police are calling the scene "suspicious".
