University Hospital to raise rates in 2013

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Patients at University Hospital will see their rates go up next year.

The hospital's board approved rate hikes on hospital services Thursday.

Room and board rates will increase 3.5%. Rates on all other services are increasing 7%.

Hospital officials say the increase is being done to make the hospital more competitive in the area.

It is the first rate hike in four years.
