Wife of Hephzibah murder victim pleads for justice

HEPHZIBAH, GA (WFXG) -

"All I want right now is for those killers to be found," Brenda Jackson softly says Wednesday afternoon.

It's the wish of a wife in mourning.

Earlier this month, someone killed Hester Jackson, the man she married just six months ago.

"He was a kind, gentle, humble man," she remembers. "He would give you the shirt off his back, would do anything for anybody. He was just one of a kind."

Investigators say Hester walked in on a burglar, who killed him.  Now they want help finding the killer.

Flyers with Hester's picture are making their way around the community, after Richmond Co. Sheriff's Deputies spent the afternoon patrolling the neighborhood and passing them out, hoping to get anyone with information to come forward.

"We've always had success doing this," explains Lt. Calvin Chew. "We're going to pass out flyers, and get the community involved and hopefully we can get some information on this case."

It's a hope for not only Richmond Co. Investigators, but also the woman now left a widow.

"I don't know what closure will be," Brenda says. "But just knowing they're off the streets and can't harm anyone else right now, that would be good."

She says she hopes her and her family's questions will soon be answered, and the people responsible will be behind bars.

"What you did to our family was just sinless," she says when asked what she would like to say to those responsible. "If you're out there, please, please just come forward and turn yourself in."

Crimestoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Hester Jackson's death.

Some of Jackson's former colleagues at SRS are also offering a $9,000 reward.

If you have any information, please call the Richmond Co. Sheriff's Office at (706) 821-1020 or (706) 821-1080.
