Man struck and killed by vehicle on Washington Road

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A man from North Carolina was struck by a vehicle and killed Tuesday evening while trying to cross Washington Road near Boy Scout Road.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office tells FOX54 that the victim was in the area for construction work. The victim died at the scene.

A Chevrolet truck allegedly struck the victim, but Sgt. Danny Whiteheads with the RCSO says that charges will not be filed in this case.

Washington Road going towards Downtown Augusta was briefly shut down while investigators worked the crash.
