After shooting, neighbor took in 6 young survivors

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) - A man who lives near Sandy Hook Elementary School says he took in six students who survived the shooting and ended up huddled at the end of his driveway.

Sixty-9-year-old retired psychologist Gene Rosen says he heard gunfire Friday morning but dismissed it as a hunter. He was heading to a diner when he found four girls and two boys sitting in a semicircle.

He says one boy told him: "We can't go back to school. Our teacher is dead."

He took the children in, gave them juice and stuffed animals, called their parents and listened to them describe the ordeal,

They said the shooter had a big gun and a little gun. Another boy provided a moment of levity when he said: "Just saying, your house is very small."
