BARNWELL COUNTY, SC (WFXG) -
A Barnwell County school student has been removed from Blackville-Hilda High School after making a bomb threat.
Blackville-Hilda Superintendent Teresa Pope tells FOX54 that the unnamed student allegedly made the bomb threat by typing it into a calculator.
Students were briefly evacuated to the school's gymnasium while the Barnwell County Sheriff's Office ensured the threat was not legitimate. A bomb was not found; students and staff have since returned to class safely.
The student was taken home by Barnwell County deputies and will be removed from school for the time being. Superintendent Pope tells us that the student will likely go before the school board to determine long-term disciplinary action.
