ALBANY, GA -
The reigning conference Freshman of the Year April Thomas did all she could to bring Albany State back but ASU dropped its home opener to Shorter 53-49 at the HPER Gym. Thomas had a game high 20 points and buried a flurry of shots in the game's final moments including a three pointer with 8 seconds left to force overtime.
But in the overtime period, Shorter scored three straight times to take a 6 point lead. Thomas nailed another three pointer to bring ASU within 3 but that's as close as ASU would get. The 4 point loss sends the Lady Rams to 1-5 on the season.
Albany State will host Valdosta State on December 29th.
