UPDATE: Victim's condition upgraded in Riverwatch crash, charges still being determined

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

UPDATE: New details in a wrong-way crash that happened last month on Riverwatch Parkway.

No charges have been filed at this point, but Richmond County Deputies tell FOX54 charges will be filed in the future. They are waiting to decide whether the driver will face criminal or traffic charges.

You'll remember, 51 year old, Monique Sullivan, was driving the wrong way down Riverwatch Parkway when her SUV flipped over after hitting three other cars and sending six people, including her child and husband to the hospital.

Sullivan and her husband have been released from the hospital. Only one victim remains in the hospital at this point and has been upgraded to fair condition.

ORIGINAL STORY:

"There's a car driving on the wrong side coming up," a man told Richmond Co. 911 Monday. "It's going to wipe out some people. I mean there's some people almost turned over."

That was just one of several frantic 911 calls reporting a speeding driver traveling the wrong way on Riverwatch Parkway Monday.

Shortly after that call, the fears of the other drivers became reality.

"We're on Riverwatch Parkway. There's been a really bad accident," a sobbing woman exclaims to a 911 operator. "A car was coming down Riverwatch Parkway on the wrong side. Oh God!"

A tan SUV traveling on the wrong side of the road flipped over after hitting three other cars, sending six people, including the driver, 51 year old Monique Sullivan, to the hospital.

Three of those people have been released.

Of the other three, one is still in critical condition. Two others, including Sullivan, are stable.

Investigators still don't know why Sullivan was driving the wrong way because they say they can't get a clear answer out of her.

"We still have questions to be answered," says Richmond Co. Sheriff's Office Lt. Randy Prickett. "We're not sure if the driver's not cooperating or just under a lot of medication where she doesn't realize what she's doing right now."

Lt. Prickett says the investigation continues, but without hearing from Sullivan, it's difficult to determine what led to Monday's major crash.

"There's nothing to lead us to believe that drugs or alcohol were involved at this time," Prickett says. "So far, we just haven't located a reason, and of course, she's not saying why."

Prickett says investigators are working to re-create the crash scene.

He says charges will be coming soon, but what those charges will be are still to be determined.
