Blood Give In Community Blood Drive
Friday, December 14, 2012
11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
First Baptist Church of Augusta –
Activities Center
3500 Walton Way Ext.
"It is a true gift from the heart that can give someone in your local
community another holiday season," said Greg Bearden, Assistant Director of
Community Resources for Shepeard Community Blood Center. "The gift of
life is the greatest gift someone could ever receive."
All first time donors will receive a Shepeard travel blanket to keep warm
this holiday season. All visitors will receive a holiday donor t-shirt
and a free fried chicken meal with all the trimmings. Also, free child
care will be provided by A Child's World while you donate.
"Unfortunately, blood shortages occur most during the holidays because
emergencies are higher and donations are lower," said Bearden. "Blood has
to be collected, processed, tested and ready for someone before that person
actually needs it. You never know when that someone could be a neighbor,
friend, family member or even yourself."
All healthy people weighing at least 110 pounds and at least 17 years old,
or 16 with written parental consent, are encouraged to donate blood to help
save local lives. Please be sure to eat a good, healthy meal and drink
plenty of water before and after donating.
