McDuffie County, GA (WFXG) -

A McDuffie County girl has been hospitalized after being struck by a car near her bus stop this morning.

4-year old Ava Rushing was taken to GHS Medical Center following the incident. She sustained a cut to her face, and the Georgia State Patrol says she had no serious injuries. Rushing will be held in the hospital for observation.

Troopers are working the crash, trying to determine if the stop bar was activated on the bus at the time Rushing was hit by a vehicle meeting the bus.

Troopers say the bus had pulled away, stopped, then backed up. At that point, Rushing attempted to cross the roadway from the left side of the road and was hit.
