HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
This year's West Nile virus cases in Alabama broke the record that was set in 2002.
According to state health officers, the state has 51 confirmed cases of the mosquito-borne illness.
The previous high was in 2002 when Alabama saw 49 cases.
As of right now, there are only two cases in North Alabama; one in Madison County and the other in Lauderdale County.
