Two men arrested in Auburn after attempted robbery

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Auburn food delivery personnel can rest easy knowing that two young men have been arrested on warrants charging each with robbery in the first degree.

Jamarius Blunt, 20, of Opelika, and 18-year-old Tommy Davis of Auburn were  taken into custody around 1:30 Sunday morning after attempting to rob a pizza delivery man of his food and money at an apartment complex on the 1200 block of College Street.

"Evidently the delivery person was delivering to an apartment there and during the process of doing that he was approached by two individuals," says Captain Tom Stofer of the Auburn Police Division.

Blunt and Davis fled the scene empty-handed before Auburn PD arrived, but 30 minutes later the two men were caught at an apartment complex on West Longleaf Drive.

The victim was shaken up by the incident, but not harmed.

"The victim did not see a weapon, but based on actions and movements of the individuals involved, the victim believed they may have been in position for a weapon," explains Stofer.

Stofer says this is not the first time a case like this has happened in the area.

There have been three other incidents over the past three weeks in Auburn where food delivery people were approached by individuals attempting to rob them. Davis and Blunt are believed to be the suspects in those crimes as well.

"We have reasons to believe based on different factors that these two individuals may be responsible for more than just this one incident," says Stofer.
