UPDATE: One person shot in Jackson; evidence scarce

Update:

Officials working with the Jackson Police Department tell FOX54 evidence found within a home on 5th Street does not support claims by a victim in a shooting there.

Investigators were called out to the home after a person was shot in the chest. The victim told investigators that a black male with short dreadlocks shot him. Tuesday, Investigators confirmed the shell casings found in the home match the ammunition in the victim's gun. The only gun found on site is the victim's gun.

The investigation is ongoing.

Update:

Captain Troy Elwell with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office says a white male was shot in the upper right chest this afternoon. According to Capt. Elwell, the victim was alert and able to talk to investigators before being transported to the hospital.

The victim told officers he was shot by a black male with short dreadlocks.

The ACSO dog team is currently on the scene looking for a possible suspect. Jackson Police also responded to the scene and are aiding in the investigation.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office tells FOX54 that one person has been shot in Jackson.

Deputies are working the scene at 401 5th Street inside the Jackson city limits.

Jackson Middle School is also reported to be on lockdown, according to staff at the school. Children are being picked up one by one.
