UPDATE: One lane re-opened on Old Evans Rd. after morning house fire

MARTINEZ, GA (WFXG) -

UPDATE (5:10 p.m.): The home on the 300 block of Old Evans Road was destroyed by an electrical fire, according to the State Fire Marshal.

The fire started by accident in one of the bedrooms and does not appear suspicious.

UPDATE (11:25 a.m.): One lane of Old Evans Rd. between McCormick and Harden Rds. is now re-opened. Use caution if traveling in this area.

ORIGINAL STORY: Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue crews are working to put out a house fire on the 300 block of Old Evans Rd. in Martinez.

Old Evans Rd. is currently closed between McCormick and Harden Rds., according to Columbia Co. EMA Director Pam Tucker.

EMTs are also on the scene, but we're told no one has been taken from the home.

Fox 54 has a crew at the home, and witnesses say they heard a dog barking inside the home.

We will continue to update you on this story, and will have more tonight on Fox 54 News at Ten.
