Shoppers braving Black Friday crowds say it's worth it

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A sea of shoppers flooded the Augusta Mall Friday, passing signs promising sales of 50% to 75% off during Black Friday.

"60% off, 50% off free bags, gifts," described shopper Erin Holcomb.

"40% off, up to 70% off sometimes," said Jenna Waters.

While the day is famous for its bargains, it's also infamous for crazed customers.

"You hear a lot of 'excuse me' and 'move out of the way,'" Holcomb, said.

"We try to get as much done without getting in a fight," said shopper Allison Wilkinson.

Even though there can be rude and pushy shoppers, it's not stopping the Wilkinson family tradition.

"We've done it every year since I can remember, so over 20 years," Wilkinson, said.

Along with the clothes and gifts, some shoppers also get a thrill shopping Black Friday sales.

"Last night when we came out I was shaking I was so excited," said Waters.

Waters and her friend, Kirsten Fedor say they were so excited, they made another trip to the mall Friday.

"We got up at 6 o'clock this morning to come out here, bright and early," said Waters.

Even though there are crazy hours and sometimes crazy shoppers on Black Friday – customers told Fox54 it's worth it.

"I think so, it's still fun," Connie Holcomb, said.

"It really hasn't been that bad, it's been pleasant," Wilkinson, said.

"It's fun coming out here and seeing all the people, the deals and shopping," said Waters.

Shoppers Fox54 spoke with say they hope their holiday shopping is now in the bag.
