For
more than a week Richmond County investigator David Dutton was under
investigation after a woman told authorities he raped her. Dutton, 35, was arrested
Tuesday night and is now being held in the Columbia County Detention Center.
We
got a hold of the incident report. It said the attack was reported last Monday.
The victim said she found pictures and video of him and her having sex. She
said she took her medication before she went to sleep the night before, but did
not remember consenting or even having sex with Dutton. Investigators say Dutton
said it was consensual. They also say Dutton erased the videos and pictures
from his phone after he took it back from the woman.
The Richmond County
Sheriff's Office had no comment on the incident, but they did tell Fox54 Dutton
has been on administrative leave with pay once the investigation was brought to
their attention. As of Tuesday night he is now suspended without pay.
Dutton is being held without bond. He is being charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery, unlawful eavesdropping and giving a false statement.
