EVANS, GA (WFXG) -
Over 275 soccer players, coaches, and NCAA
officials, from New York, California, Canada, Florida and parts
in-between are traveling to Columbia County next week to compete in the 2012
NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Soccer Championships. The Peach Belt
Conference and Columbia County, Georgia will co-host the championships to be
played at Blanchard Woods Park on 11/29 (semifinals) and 12/1(finals).
"It's a great honor to host an NCAA
Championship event in our community." says Randy DuTeau, Executive
Director of Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). "Blanchard
Woods Park has proven itself as a championship level facility, allowing
Columbia County to host these kinds of elite events. We are gearing up for a
quality and unforgettable experience for all student-athletes."
Teams making it to the final eight had to
qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions held last weekend
throughout the country. The following teams will be vying
for the championship title, including the first international NCAA member Simon
Frazer University/Vancouver, BC;
