AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

For Columbia County seven year old Christopher Thompson, Sunday was the beginning of the week he's always dreamed of.

Christopher has been battling a life-threatening brain tumor for over a year now.

But that won't be on his or his family's mind this week.

Thanks to the Make-a-Wish foundation, the Thompsons are heading to the happiest place on Earth.

"This morning, I woke up and got up, and was like, 'Yeah, I'm going to Disney World!'" Christopher says.

"It's an escape from reality," says Christopher's father, Chris "It's just the world doesn't exist, let's just have fun."

The magical week started in style, with a surprise limo ride to the airport- Christopher's first ever limo ride.

"It's cool," he says. "Flat screen TV, music, lights, everywhere."

Despite a flight delay, it was off to the Magic Kingdom, where Christopher and his family would have a week to have all the fun they desire.

"I think he's not going to know what to do first," laughs Christopher's mother, Elisha.

"What do you want to do most?" asks Fox 54's Jake Wallace.

"Ride roller coasters and go swimming," replies Christopher.

"I'm looking forward to seeing their faces," says Chris. "Seeing them light up."

While there, Christopher will spend time with his favorite Disney characters- Phineas and Ferb.

"He will get his own little session with Phineas and Ferb," says Elisha. "Then he gets to do a scavenger hunt at Epcot with Phineas and Ferb."

The family couldn't be more grateful.

"Make-a-Wish has provided the means for us to give him something great in life," says Chris.

And it's a trip the family says will create lifelong memories.

"This week will never be forgotten," Chris says.

After Christopher's last round of chemo, the family received good news- MRIs showed nearly 50% shrinkage of his tumor.
