Emanuel County, GA (WFXG) -

According to Emanuel County Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens, jail escapees Matthew Findley (24) and
Jeffery Webb (26) have been captured and returned to confinement in Fort Dodge, Iowa, by the U.S. Marshal's Eastern Iowa Fugitive Task Force.

The arrests come after a continued investigation among the Emanuel County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Marshal's Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) and law enforcement in Iowa. The investigation has been ongoing ever since six inmates escaped the Emanuel County Jail on November 10th, 2012. Four of the six inmates were captured within the first twenty-four hours of the escape. Findley and Webb were apprehended on Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 at approximately 2:00pm Eastern Standard Time. The two will face an extradition hearing in Iowa and then be returned to the Emanuel County Jail.

Sheriff Stephens stated that "it is extremely fortunate that no further crimes were perpetrated by any of the escapees, and that no harm came to any citizen, officer or inmate during this ordeal. We are glad that we can enter the holiday season knowing that these inmates have been returned to confinement."

The sheriff expressed his appreciation of the cooperation between local, state and federal law
enforcement agencies that participated in the search of the inmates, which also included the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia State Patrol, the East Central Drug Task Force, the Swainsboro November 20, 2012 Police Department, the Oak Park Police Department, the Stillmore Police Department, the Georgia Department of Corrections and the Webster County (IA) Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Stephens further thanked the members of the SERFTF, the staff of the Emanuel County Jail, and his investigators and deputies for the extra effort and time they put into the investigation.
