Organization helps girls raise self-esteem in running program

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Young girls across the CSRA are beaming with pride after completing a 10-week program geared to help raise their self-esteem, while teaching them new running techniques.

Saturday morning Girls on the Run, Inc., a non-profit organization to help at-risk girls hosted its 3rd annual 5K run. The event comes at the end of the program's term. During the program girls are inspired to set high goals, while learning better ways to exercise.

"I did it to be more active, and just get some more exercise in, and be better at running, because I didn't really know any good running techniques, but it's helped a lot," said Molly Bradberry, a teenager in the organization.

Girls ages 8 to 13 are welcomed in the program. Organizers say they're registering girls for their spring semester. For more information go to girlsontherunofthecsra.org.
