PEORIA, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

A man suspected of robbing a bank in Peoria last month has been arrested, police said.

John Painter, 43, was taken into custody Tuesday less than an hour after he allegedly robbed a credit union near 75th Avenue and Bell Road in Sun City.

While Painter was being questioned, detectives said he admitted to robbing a bank in Peoria on Oct. 16 plus another bank in Glendale.

Authorities said they linked the suspect to the Peoria robbery by the clothing he wore in the Sun City heist. The apparel included a brimmed floppy camouflage hat and a long-sleeved sweatshirt.

Officers said a vehicle license plate led them to an apartment complex near 85th Avenue and Peoria, where Painter was arrested. They said the stolen money and the clothing he allegedly wore during the robberies were found inside the car.
