AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -
Today Gold Cross EMS notified the Region VI EMS Office that it will withdraw is July 25 request for ambulance zone modifications.
The company wrote a letter to the state in
the hopes of being appointed the primary provider of ambulance services
in Richmond County, no longer wanting to share the status with the city
as they currently do now.
"Since
we are the primary ambulance service that we be designated as such and
the Fire Department is designated as a secondary which they act as
today," said Vince Brogdon, the CEO of Gold Cross.
The issue was tabled last week, but officials with Gold Cross tell FOX54, after meeting with the city a compromise was made.
"Our paramedics and EMTs provide the community with an exceptional level of emergency care and whether or not we are under contract with the City of Augusta, Gold Cross is committed to continuing our commitment to the community," Vince Brogdon, CEO of Gold Cross EMS.
Officials tell FOX54 meetings between Gold Cross and the City went well and that everyone involved is happy with the final decision.
