AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -
Decision 2012 is one week away, but many Georgians have already
hit the polls.
In Richmond County they had over 3,000 people vote Tuesday; so far for advance voting they've had more than
20,000 voters.
Fox54 asked advance voters Tuesday what issues are important to them during this year's big election.
"What is important to me is
social security," said Linda Jones.
"Abortion, I believe that it is
murder," said Joann Nance.
"Healthcare was important," said Mocella Collier.
"We need some religious freedom
and we have to put God back where He belongs," Cecilia Kemp, said.
The Richmond County Board of Elections
says if you want your voice to be heard you should be prepared before you
head to the polls.
"I think it's important to know
what to expect when you step into one of the booths so you don't find yourself
looking at a bunch of names and things that are foreign to you. So it's always
better to be prepared," said the Director for the Richmond County Board of Elections, Lynn Bailey.
She says preparing will go a long way
when you go to vote.
"Having your ID ready and being
prepared by looking at a sample ballot are two of the ways to make sure things
go well for them," said Bailey.
Bailey also says voter turnout should go well
on Super Tuesday.
"In 2008 was nearly an 80%
turnout here in Richmond County, it was the highest turnout in the number of
people participating in the election that we've ever had here. I think we're
going to see very similar numbers in this go round," Bailey, said.
Already thousands of locals are
heading to the polls, hoping to vote their candidates into office.
"I think Obama's going to
win," Jones, said.
"I hope that the republicans will
win," said Kemp.
"I hope to see Obama," Collier, said.
Nance said, "I would love to have Romney get
in there."
For now, the two presidential candidates are neck and neck in
an election that will be decided by you.
