AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

FOX54 has learned a 7 year old is dead today following a morning crash. Investigators say the crash happened on Willis Foreman Road and Peach Orchard Road.

Jamal Lovett, 7, was ejected from the vehicle in which he was the backseat passenger in. He was transported to Georgia Health Sciences University CMC in critical condition where he was pronounced dead at 9:07am.

The vehicle in which Lovett was riding, a 1999 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Peach Orchard Road and was attempting to turn left onto Willis Foreman Road.  As the vehicle turned left, it was struck by a southbound 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. We're told the car was split in half.

The child's mother was also taken to the hospital and was still there at noon. No word on her condition at this time.

Charges are pending in this case.
