ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An Elkhart man is behind bars after allegedly shooting a man and woman who were in the process of repossessing one of his vehicles.

Anderson County deputies were dispatched to County Road 109 near Elkhart, in reference to a shooting, just after 10 p.m., Tuesday.

After investigating they determined, a wrecker from Investor Recovery Service of Tyler, driven by Vic Crawford and Jennifer Miller went to the residence of 64-year-old, Doyle Henry Cook, Jr. to repo a pick-up truck. The wrecker hooked up to the pickup and was driving away when Mr. Cook came out of the house and fired several shots at the wrecker.

Mr. Cook then proceeded to get into another vehicle and chase after the wrecker, passing it and turning around to block it at the intersection of FM 319 and CR 103. At that time, Mr. Cook got out of his vehicle and fired numerous shots at the wrecker while it was stopping and attempting to pull around his vehicle.

About a half a mile north of FM 319 and CR 103, the wrecker dropped the pick-up while still moving, and the pick-up came to rest in a ditch on the northside of the road.

Mr. Cook stopped pursuing the wrecker at this location and was still there when deputies arrived on the scene.

The wrecker continued north of FM 319, turned east on FM 294 and pulled to the side of the road approximately a half mile est of FM 319, according to Anderson County Sheriff's office.

Both victims were found in the wrecker with gunshot wounds.

Mr. Crawford had a gunshot wound to the shoulder and side of head. Ms. Miller had a gunshot wound in the hip. Both victims were taken to Palestine Regional Medical Center, then transported by ambulance to Tyler.

Mr. Cook was taken into custody and transported to the Anderson County Jail. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

No bond has been set at this time.

The investigation into this case is still ongoing.
