FOX54 peanut butter drive makes drop off

APPLING, GA (WFXG) -

One week and 186 jars later: FOX54 has provided some temporary relief to a peanut butter crisis at the Columbia County Cares food pantry.

"It's of course not going to last long," said Gwen Marshall, manager of the food pantry. "We've made the community aware. That's the whole point."

After hearing about the food pantry's dire need for peanut butter, FOX54 decided to organize a peanut butter drive. Folks from around the area, including our own staff, donated to the cause.

"We give it out every day if we can," said Marshall. "We've had so many days where we didn't have any to give out. It's heart wrenching and our clients are disappointed."

FOX54 and all our staff were glad we could help.

"I'm getting a little emotional over this," she added. "You've been phenomenal. You and FOX have gone above and beyond and we cant thank you enough."
