One person dead following overnight wreck

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

An overnight vehicle crash leaves one man dead. Investigators have identified the victim as 82 year old, Harry James Newbold.

Newbold was driving his 2003 Ford Ranger west on Scott Road and failed to stop or yield at the stop sign at Peach Orchard Road. Newbold's vehicle was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, which was traveling northbound on Peach Orchard Road at Scott Road.

Newbold was taken the Georgia Health Sciences University Emergency Room where he was pronounced dead. Newbold is scheduled for an autopsy at the Augusta GBI Lab this morning.
