NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) -

Augusta-based Potash Corporation gave a $10,000 check to Habitat for Humanity this afternoon, to help them finish a house they're working on in North Augusta.

"Because we operate within this community, we think it's necessary to support initiatives within the community," said Edmond Thompson, with the Potash Corporation.

The house in North Augusta has been under construction for months, and walls will finally go up next week.

"The house is built strictly with volunteer labor," said Mike Bone, construction manager. "We do everything that is necessary to build a quality house that meets all city ordinances."

This is not the first Habitat home in North Augusta. There are actually 13 other homes just like this one in the surrounding neighborhood.

"We believe that it has really transformed the neighborhood into a better place to live for all the people on this block," said Bone.

The next house will begin construction sometime in the Spring off of Martintown Road.
