Aiken NAACP looking to educate voters

AIKEN, SC (WFXG) -

Going to the voting booth in South Carolina could be changing, as the state tries to pass new voter ID laws.

That's why the Aiken Chapter of the NAACP was out to make sure voters were educated on what they need to do to be registered.

The organization's second voter registration and education drive took place Saturday afternoon.

Representatives answered questions about registration and possible changes, including what a voter needs to bring to the polls. Several attendees registered on site as well.

"There is nothing more sacred in this country than everybody's individual rights and the right to vote," says NAACP Aiken Chapter President Philip Howell. "This is how people participate in our democracy, and we want everybody to be able to participate. We want everyone's vote to count."
