Suspects sought in deadly North Augusta shooting

North Augusta Public Safety investigators are actively searching for two men in connection to a deadly overnight shooting.

According to Lt. Tim Thornton, deputies responded to Ridgeview Manor Apartments on Bradleyville Rd. around 3 a.m. Saturday morning in response to a shooting.

Deputies found Travis Smith, 28, inside an apartment with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Smith was pronounced dead by the Aiken Co. Coroner's Office.

Witnesses told investigators two black men wearing hoodies approached Smith and his girlfriend while they were outside. One suspect fired a shot in their direction as Smith and his girlfriend ran back inside.

The two suspects are described as black males, over six feet tall, and around 160 lbs. One suspect was wearing a dark red hoodie, while the other wore a black hoodie. Both are considered armed and dangerous.
