Three people arrested in Covington bomb threat scheme

Posted: Updated:
COVINGTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Three people were arrested after a man, on three separate occasions, made a bomb threat to the Covington and Conyers Walmart stores.

Covington police said Latrell Pitts confessed to calling in two bomb threats to the Covington Walmart on Sept. 6 and 9, and one to the Conyers Walmart on an unknown date.

Police said Pitts made the threats because Chakedra Blocker and Brianna Black, both Covington Walmart employees, anticipated the store would close its doors and send the employees home.

Covington police responded and each call was determined to be a hoax.

Police said Blocker and Black paid Pitts for making the threat.

The trio made a similar threat to the Conyers Walmart in an attempt to shoplift beer from the store during the evacuation.
