Farmington man accused of neglect has case continued

FARMINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

A Farmington man accused of neglecting a bedridden woman had his case continued.

When Farmington police arrested 47-year-old Robert Retallick, they called it a case of obvious neglect.

Following a brief investigation, police said they got an arrest warrant for Retallick earlier this month.

They said he left a bedridden client who has cerebral palsy alone and on the floor in a dirty apartment. According to police, Retallick even took away her Life Alert call button.

Retallick had a deal with the woman, according to police. They said he would live with her rent free while he cared for her. Now he's charged with intentional cruelty to persons, a felony, along with interfering with an officer and resisting arrest.

According to police, Retallick refused to come out of the apartment when police went to arrest him. They said they had to force their way in and also said he was threatening officers and stabbing himself with a kitchen knife before being hit with a round from a bean bag gun and being placed under arrest.

The woman he was supposed to be taking care of is now in a full-time care facility.
