AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Starbucks is breaking ground today on a new soluble manufacturing plant in Augusta. The plant will sit along Mike Padgett Highway.

Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver along with Peter Gibbons, Starbucks executive vice president, Global Supply Chain Operations were in attendance.

This is Starbucks' first company-owned facility in the world to produce soluble products, including Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew and the ingredients for our Frappuccino® and ready-to-drink beverages.

The state-of-the-art plant will create more than 140 jobs once operational early next year.

FOX54 has a crew at the groundbreaking and will have details on the new facility and opportunities open to the public here at wfxg.com and tonight at 10pm.
