AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -
The Greater Augusta Arts Council will
hold the 32nd annual Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival September 14-16, in
historic downtown Augusta. Arts in the Heart showcases visual and
performing arts and celebrates the different ethnic groups which blend to
create the heart of Augusta.
The Festival will include food from
approximately 15 cultural groups representing their ethnic cuisines. The
Festival will also include over 100 booths featuring different arts and crafts,
a children's area where kids can create crafts from around the world, and the
Troubadour Stage for spoken word and acoustic performances. More special
features of this year's Arts in the Heart Festival include a young artist's
market featuring art by children 18 and younger, a southern beer garden,
performances by The Channelheimer Oompah Band, the Livingroom Legends and von
Grey. Weekend contests include: Amped: The Augusta Chronicle Music
Contest, a fine arts and crafts booth contest, and a contest for our ethnic
food vendors.
Volunteers are needed to work during
the festival. Opportunities include ticket booths, concession stands,
merchandise sales and traffic control. Groups such as companies, platoons,
large families, co-workers or friends wishing to work together can use our
group sign up form, available online. Groups can volunteer to manage a ticket
booth or concession stand for a shift, a day or the entire weekend.
Applications and online forms are at www.artsintheheart.com.
Weekend badges for the Arts in the
Heart of Augusta Festival are $5 in advance and $7 at the gate. Children under
