Just a few hours after both took part in the Coke Zero 400 in Daytona on Saturday night, NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne were in the Lowcountry Sunday morning racing in a triathlon at James Island County Park.
It's the first triathlon that both drivers have taken part in and they weren't alone. Members of both their pit crews joined them, as did some of their friends and Marty Smith the NASCAR reporter for ESPN.
Kahne, who was coming off a 7th place finish at Saturday night's race, had another good outing as he said on his Twitter feed that he finished the triathlon in 1:11:30. That time was good enough for 5th in his age group.
"The happiest I've ever been to see a finish line while running in the back. Haha." Kahne tweeted, adding, "First Sprint Triathlon in Charleston! Good times."
Johnson also tweeted that he finished in 1:11:57, although he said he cramped up on the run and missed his goal by 2 minutes.
