Community rallies around Bain sisters

BOLIVAR, TN -

(WMC-TV) – As the mother of Adam Mayes learns of new charges against her, a Tennessee community is rallying around the surviving family members.

Green ribbons adorn Bolivar, Tennessee, as an entire city rallies behind the Bain sisters, who are on the road to recovery.

From the backs of cars to businesses along Market Street, travelers making their way through the small town see green ribbons everywhere.

Madison German is a classmate of Adrienne Bain, who was murdered alongside her mother, Jo Ann, as part of Adam Mayes' plan to kidnap her two younger sisters.

German covered her car with green ribbon in honor of her friend and her friend's mother.

"I'm glad everybody is thinking about her and supporting her," said German. "She was a lot of fun, funny, and enjoyable. I liked to hang out with her and stuff."

Employees at First South Bank along Market Street put up ribbons as soon as the Bain family was kidnapped.

"We wanted to show support like we do when you see purple ribbons, you think of Relay for Life, when you see these ribbons you think of the tragedy they went through and hopefully a better ending," said Larry Crawford, First South Bank.

Some still cannot believe the tragedy that began nearly a month ago.

" I don't know what to think because nothing like this has ever happened before down here," said Brianna Morgan, a classmate of the Bain girls.

While the two women at the center of this investigation face a judge, Bolivar residents remain committed to Alexandria and Kyliyah's well being.

Residents and businesses in the small town say they will keep these ribbons up for as long as it takes.
