Search for Bain sisters earns national attention

(WMC-TV) - The search for Alexandria and Kyliyah Bain and the man charged with kidnapping them is gripping hearts across the country.

Before Adam Mayes ever made on the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitive List, national interest in this story slowly began to build after investigators labeled Mayes as a person of interest.

The search for Alexandria and Kaliyah Bain is all over the Internet, in newspapers, and has dominated the morning news programs and cable news for the past two days.

Building on the national attention, federal agents believe Adam Mayes could be anywhere in the country. The say he has ties in Florida, Texas, North Caroline, and Arizona.

A family member, who has spoken to Action News 5 multiple times, has now also gone on CNN's Anderson Cooper telling the world what she has already told WMC-TV.

"The main thing she told me was where the bodies were buried and that Adam had threatened to kill her," Teresa Mayes' sister, Bobbi Booth, said on Anderson Cooper Tuesday.

Right now, law enforcement is intensely focusing the hunt for Adam Mayes in Union County, Mississippi. Even so, billboards are popping up across the country.

Authorities want to make sure that people across the region and across the country are paying attention to this case and looking for Mayes and the Bain sisters.
