Fort Gordon, GA (WFXG) -

Folks teed off for the annual Fort Gordon Fisher House golf tournament Friday.

The tournament benefits the Fisher House.

Stephanie Garold, the co-chair for the golf tournament, said, "The Fisher House, for those of you who don't know is kind of like Ronald McDonald House. So it's a place where military families can come stay free of charge while their loved one is in a medical facility."

Retired Sgt. Maj, Ronald Price played the tournament because of what the Fisher House does.

"The Fisher House Foundation supports the soldiers and family of the soldiers; and that is why I'm here, I am a retired 30 year veteran and I strongly believe in the Fisher House foundation," Price, said.

The Fisher House program helps more than 17,000 families each year.
