SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Crews responded to the scene of a five-vehicle crash in Smith County with injuries, Friday morning.

DPS dispatchers said the call came in around 8:20 for the collision on FM 2493 (Old Jacksonville Highway), at the intersection of CR 140.

Officials say three northbound vehicles were stopped at a light, when a truck, also heading northbound, struck the three waiting cars from behind.

DPS says after striking those three vehicles, the truck swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevy HHR head-on.

The driver of the truck and HHR were both taken to the hospital by ambulance.
