Ft. Gordon making sure soldiers get all their benefits

Military men and women sacrifice so much for our country. Now, some at Ft. Gordon are making sure they don't sacrifice their benefits when they are discharged.

Twice a month, the Ft. Gordon Veterans Affairs Office holds a TAP seminar designed to inform and educate soldiers who will soon enter civilian life the benefits they are entitled to.

The seminars are free for all service men or women who are within two years of their discharge date and their spouses.

Officials say with so much out there, it can be hard to understand what all is available, and it's best to start paying attention before a soldier needs it.

"Disability compensation, educational benefits, life insurance benefits," lists Veterans Affairs Military Service Coordinator Mack Bennett. "This is vital to them upon discharge that they know about these benefits ahead of time."

To sign up for a TAP seminar, call the ACAP office at (706) 791-7333.
