LINDALE, TX (KLTV) -

The sanctuary of an East Texas Church was destroyed in an overnight blaze.

Around 3 a.m., numerous fire crew responded to reports that the sanctuary of the Hideaway Community Church in the 1,500 block of Lake Park Circle in Hideaway was on fire.

When fire crews arrived on the scene the sanctuary was 40 to 50 percent involved.

The Van, Mineola, Lindale and Dixie Fire Departments were able to contain the fire to the sanctuary and no other buildings in the complex were damaged. However, the sanctuary of the church is a complete loss.

Authorities say lightning sparked the blaze.
