One dead after early morning fire

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

One person is dead after an early morning fire in Richmond County. Investigators were on the scene early this morning on the 3700 block of Wrightsboro Road.

40-year-old Jimmy Edward Smith was found dead inside his home around 1:30 a.m. So far investigators do not know what started the fire. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
