Savannah police are trying to identify a man's body found Tuesday morning.
Investigators spent much of the morning searching an empty lot and wooded area on 61st Street between Abercorn and Habersham streets.
Officials said an officer spotted a silver Toyota SUV with the door open around 1 a.m. That is what led to the search.
"They found the vehicle and felt that something may have happened on this lot, so they walked the lot in one long line until they found the body. At that point, you may have seen us all walk out in one long line to keep from contaminating the site," said Julian Miller, public information administrator with the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Dept.
