UPDATE: JoDon and his family have been asked to come out to New York for the next phase of America's Got Talent.
The trip will cost around $2700. If you would like to help JoDon get to New York you can stop by any Suntrust Bank and ask to donate to the "Linda Kay Teague Fund". Teague is JoDon's grandmother.
Jodon's family says several businesses and schools in there hometown of Thomson have offered to help raise funds too. No word yet on those upcoming events. As soon as they are scheduled we will let you know.
Original story:
You might get mesmerized by the dance moves of Thomson's own JoDon Stevenson; pretty impressive for a 6-year-old. After watching the popular television show "America's Got Talent," JoDon wanted a shot to showcase his break-dancing talents to the world.
"He told us this year; he was looking on the web and we were looking at some of the dancers and stuff, and he said, 'I'd like to do that," said Bridgette Stevenson, JoDon's mother.
Break dancing is one of JoDon's favorite things to do. But after being diagnosed with brain and skull costs last year, it's one of the only things he's able to do.
"At that point we got really worried. They did one surgery on the back of his head and removed one. But it has affected his learning ability," Stevenson said.
The Stevensons say before being diagnosed with this rare disease, JoDon knew how to read; he could write his name, sing the alphabet and count. But now, they say it's like he's forgotten everything.
"He doesn't understand right from wrong. He doesn't understand how to write his name, he doesn't know how to count, he doesn't understand absolutely anything, but in his heart, he knows how to dance."
And through dancing, his family hopes JoDon can still accomplish his dreams.
