South Carolina residents who are planning on buying new energy efficient appliances will be eligible to receive rebates ranging from $50 to $100 starting from Jan. 27 to Feb. 5 through the state's remaining part of the appliance rebate stimulus program.
Appliances that qualify under the program include ENERGY STAR-labeled washers, dishwashers, refrigerators and room air conditioning units (window units).
Eligible clothes washers will receive a $100 rebate while dishwashers, refrigerators and room air conditioning units will receive $50 rebates. All qualifying purchases occurring throughout this program will be eligible to receive a rebate.
Those who want to join the program must be replacing an existing appliance in their primary residence with a new, ENERGY STAR appliance of the same type. The old appliance must be hauled away and properly disposed of in order to ensure it is removed from the power grid, according to the SC Energy Office.
After buying the appliance at a South Carolina retailer, the consumer must submit a rebate application and a store receipt postmarked within five calendar days from the purchase date.
Only one rebate per appliance type per household is allowed through this program.
