WASHINGTON (RNN) - Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain called for a revolution in the Tea Party's rebuttal to the State of the Union address, as he accused President Barack Obama of not doing enough to get the economy moving.

"We need another revolution. This time it will not be about bombs and bullets. It's going to be about brains and balance at the ballot box," Cain said. "Washington is out of touch with the people, because at times they forget that they work for us."

Cain said the president's address to the nation was "a hodgepodge of little ideas," amounting to little more than "well-scripted rhetoric."

"Now let me tell you what we did not hear: We did not hear the real facts about the state of the union," Cain said. "Facts don't lie."

One of those facts, Cain said, was the nation's unemployment rate, which stood at 8.5 percent in December.

"If you add in the people who have been looking for so long that they have stopped looking and they are discouraged, and if you add in the 8 million people that are underemployed, the real rate of unemployment is 18 percent," he said.

The nation also did not hear about out-of-control spending and the national debt of more than $15 trillion, according to Cain.

"And the president is already asking for another $1.2 trillion to add on to that," he said. "Our national debt has become a national disgrace."

For Cain, these facts have led to one conclusion: The state of the union is not getting stronger, despite Obama's Tuesday night assertion that it was.

"And so I say in response on behalf of the Tea Party and citizen people across this country, with all due respect Mr. President, some of us are not stupid," he said. "The state of the union is not good."

As a solution to the nation's problem's, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called for a fairer and simpler tax code, an energy efficiency plan, a balanced budget and a stronger military.

Cain said Washington could no longer spend its way to prosperity or tax its way out of debt and that it was time for Obama to stop his "blame game."

"Washington is out of touch with the people. There are times they forget they work for us. We must remind them," he said. "We the people are coming. That's the Tea Party message to Washington, the president and his administration."
