(RNN) - A retooling of the 1980s hit song St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion) has gone viral with its remake inspired by Denver Broncos star quarterback Tim Tebow.

John Parr, who scored a No. 1 hit in 1985 with the original track, released Tim Tebow's Fire after performing it Oct. 12 on ESPN's SportsNation.

But the song received more attention after the Broncos won in the opening round of the NFL Playoffs on Sunday, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-23. Parr told FOX31 in Denver he "was inspired" by Tebow and modified the song in "honor of the way that he lives his life as being a great example."

The original song was reportedly inspired by Rick "Man in Motion" Hansen, a Canadian Paralympian, but is perhaps better known from its use in the Brat Pack movie of the same name, starring Demi Moore and Rob Lowe.

The Broncos-Steelers game was the most watched of the season, according to the NFL. Denver won the game on an 80-yard pass in overtime from Tebow to receiver Demaryius Thomas.

The play caused a new record on Twitter, for tweets per second on a sports topic.
