Lauren Powell grew up in the Lowcountry of South Carolina in the small town of Hemingway between Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
Lauren graduated from the University of South Carolina Journalism School in December 2006 and immediately was offered a job at WJBF News Channel 6 in Augusta where she worked nights and weekends and eventually took off as producer of the Fox54 News at 10 newscast.
After more than 2 years in Augusta, Lauren took a job in Savannah at WTOC-TV, where she continued to grow as a producer. After 2 years in Savannah, FOX54 News at 10, a Raycom News partner with WTOC-TV, decided to start their own independent newscast. Lauren was offered the Executive Producer position with the new project and jumped at the opportunity and is back in the Garden City!
In her free time, you'll find Lauren cheering on her Gamecocks, spending time with her friends downtown, snapping pictures and enjoying the music of local bands, including her favorite, False Flag, or enjoying a nice walk with her dog Lola!
